Mind Power

Mind over Matter

The mind is the most powerful part of the human body, and is what sets us apart from other species...

The term mind over matter means that the mind, when given the proper stimulus, can override the normal limitations of the physical body, and cause the body to perform acts that it would not normally be able to do.

A prime example is the stories of mothers who free their trapped children from underneath automobiles weighing a few tons or heavy piles of rubble that they wouldn’t normally be able to move.

Walking over hot coals in bare feet by people who are trained “fire walkers” is another example of mind over matter. There is a medical and scientific explanation for how this could be. Our bodies produce stress hormones called endorphins which act to give us super-human strength and endurance, including masking pain impulses, in times of extreme crisis.

There are also stories of Yuri Geller and others bending spoons with the sheer power of the mind. To develop the capability to perform such feats of mind over matter requires that you first train and discipline your mind to shut out any outside distractions and to totally concentrate on the objective to be accomplished.

An important aspect of mind over matter is the mastery of our fears. Fear has been described by some as an acronym for False Experience Appearing Real. Our minds are so powerful that they can actually cause our bodies to manifest sickness, as evidenced by students becoming ill shortly before taking an important exam.

Often there are stories of cancer patients or those with other terminal illnesses, who quickly succumb to their disease and die; while others, similarly afflicted, overcome their malady and defy medical science and get well. One major difference between the first group of terminally ill people and the second is the attitude and expectations of the patient.

While a fighting will doesn’t always ensure a complete recovery from a life-threatening disease, it usually prolongs the time left to the patient, when compared to those who give up upon hearing the dreaded diagnosis and prepare to die.

One popular way of training your mind to perform feats of mind over matter is through the Change Your Mind, Change Your Life Course! This features guided visualization and affirmations. You decide the goal that you wish to accomplish and write it down, setting a specific date for your goal to be achieved.

It is best not to focus on too many things at a time. You visualize yourself achieving that goal, and enjoying the fruits of your achievement. For example, if you want a new car, you see yourself at the car lot picking out the make and model of your choice. You picture yourself in your mind driving around town in your new car.

The affirmations are said out loud several times a day - you write them out and customize them to fit what your goals are. This is programming your subconscious mind to achieve what your fears and doubts will tell you is impossible.

What Is Personal Empowerment?

Personal empowerment, what does it mean to you? Achieving it is simply developing your abilities to influence events and people around you.

Taking control of your life or a particular part of your life where you want to make an impact...

Some individuals may have a sense of it more in a community or global arena. This would be organized empowerment, where they take up arms so to speak to influence a community, a local or national government; maybe address a global issue.

Personal empowerment is more intimate; not necessarily organized in the previous examples. It could be something in our lives we want to address, perhaps we think of it more as personal growth.

It might be career driven or even something of a spiritual nature. In the work force you might want to create a new you to feel better about yourself, to reach a new goal. Typically you might embellish your persona and try to play the part.

Personal empowerment is in knowing you are the person you want to be beyond the façade you’ve created. An example of this might be having a desire to move up into management. Sometimes it is the difference between thinking and knowing something about you.
For instance you could say to yourself “I think I can manage”; where as if you were empowered you would have the ability to say “I know I can manage”.

Individuals seek empowerment resources for any number of reasons. It could be to seek career advancement; work on a failing relationship; become a better parent; or get out of debt. In medical and psychological cases you might be trying to correct a bad habit; or overcome a learning or medical disability.

Whatever your need, the result will transition you to the place you need to be to address these issues...

Personal Empowerment Is A Real Solution

Unfortunately it might come off as either egocentric or maybe New Age; however it is actually a crucial element to our being. It enables us to stand up for ourselves and others. Through it we can achieve a sense of responsibility and hold ourselves accountable. It is meant to make us better individuals.

The health profession uses personal empowerment in a number of instances. There is a disability or recovery model used to implement personal empowerment. These models are used for individuals with mental illness or individuals recovering from rape or other traumatic stress.

We might not think of empowerment as being an essential part of our being but if we consider our actions and the actions of others it would be obvious to us that it is a part of all beings. We empower our children and family members; we empower our employees. It is a natural nurturing thing to do.
We tell ourselves to eat healthy, exercise, and gain knowledge; but we don’t recognize our actions as personal empowerment. It’s possible you’ve been unaware of this till now. Welcome to the club...

Thought Power And How To Unleash Yours

Thought Power is the most powerful creative force known to humanity...

Everything that we have today - the inventions and modern conveniences, our legal system, the books in our libraries, and our religious belief systems, to cite but a few examples,
all began with a concept in someone’s mind and came to fruition though thought power.

Some people who have studied various types of Metaphysical belief systems believe that Thought Power creates a being called a Thought-form. Thought-forms are dispatched to go get whatever it is that the meta physician desires.

Thought Power Is Contagious

Have you ever been in a “down” mood and then entered into the company of someone who was so happy and charismatic that it was impossible to be sad or angry around this person?

A great public speaker has the ability to transform the emotions of their audience with their thought power. This can work for either good or bad-one of the prime examples of a public speaker with this power in modern times was Adolf Hitler.

Like attracts like, and thoughts are contagious. Hitler knew this and used this fact to turn the emotions of his mesmerized audience over the course of the many years of his reign, unfortunately turning thought power into a force for destruction and death.

Examples of those who have this power and use it to help people include Anthony Robbins, the dynamic motivational speaker, and Dr. Maxwell Maltz, the creator of the Psycho-cybernetics system.

The Psycho-cybernetics system runs on the principle that “as you think of yourself, so you become”. Dr. Maltz was a plastic surgeon who couldn’t understand why his patients would undergo surgery to correct birthmarks or facial damage caused in an accident, and then still think of themselves as ugly, despite the evidence in the mirror to the contrary.

Psycho-cybernetics utilizes thought power in the “Theatre of the mind”, a place inside your mind where you go everyday and “play out” scenarios of how you would bring about changes in your life right down to the level of envisioning what you will say to others to cause the changes and events that you desire to take place.

We all have the power to do this - you don’t have to be Dr. Maltz or Tony Robbins to use your thought power in this way...

All of the “new and wonderful” information contained in the book The Secret was actually written many years ago in books that are now in the public domain. One such book is As A Man Thinketh by James Allen. In this book he teaches that our thoughts change when we raise the level of our vibration to a higher level.

Our thoughts have the power to heal us or to kill us. Think for a moment how you feel after you have gotten angry and “gone off” on someone.

While it may be good to get an injustice off your chest, the very act of sending out angry thoughts can make you physically ill. Likewise, thinking happy, uplifting thoughts will make you feel much better...
